Hi, I'm Thiago Temple
A Brazilian living in Ottawa, Canada with my family.
What I do
I'm a staff developer at Shopify, building web things during the day. After 25+ years of writing code, I'm still finding new ways to break things and (hopefully) fix them better the second time around.
Why I do it
Started messing around with computers in the 90s when I was 13, using my neighbor's machine because we couldn't afford one yet. Something about making the computer do what I wanted just clicked.
These days, I love that the stuff I build actually helps people get things done. Sure, staying current with technology keeps me busy, but honestly? I'm just curious about how things work and how to make them work better.
Why this blog
Writing things down helps me think. Always has. If I can explain something clearly enough for you to understand, then I probably understand it myself.
Plus, future me will thank current me for documenting what I learned and why I made certain decisions. And if someone else benefits from my mistakes along the way, even better.
What I do for fun
Canadian winters got me into board games. Who knew? My collection keeps growing, and I'm okay with that.
I watch some TV shows and always have a book going. But mostly I hang out with my family—my wife, three kids, and our two greyhounds who think they're lap dogs.
